Some Harvest Moon – Business Books

Since the Kindle and iPad have come out – I’ve been devouring books – especially business books.  So, here are the list of Business Books that I’ve picked up and read since the beginning of the year – with a little review about each.  (FWIW – none of these are affiliate links – just there for convenience).

  • Different Escaping the Competitive Herd by Youngme Moon  - Just started reading this book on how to competing and innovation.  Really, really good so far.
  • Change By Design by Tim Brown – I so admire what the guys at IDEO do – and this is a great concept for a book, but I didn’t love this book as much as the reviewers did.  It ends up being alot of case studies which didn’t really inform me as much as I’d hoped.  The “how” seems tacked onto the end.
  • Shift By Peter Arnell – Transforming your brand, your career and your business – and boy did this guy go through a transformation.  This was a fun read.  Much more emotional than “tactical” but just a great read.
  • Open Leadership by Charlene Li – Great information on integrating the “social” behavior into the Enterprise, but reads a bit like a Forrester report – with alot of matrices and charts.  So, wonderful information, but not an entirely engaging read.
  • Content Strategy For The Web – Kristina Halvorson – Wonderful information, and how-to’s for establishing a content strategy.  A great introduction for those that need to understand how to perform content strategy in their business.
  • Trust Agents - Chris Brogan and Julien Smith – Good book.  Like most business books these days it turns what should have been a long white paper into a book.   So, it tends to repeat itself alot.  However, great info here for those new to Social Media on the new behaviors in content marketing .
  • Linchpin – Seth Godin – Great book.  What a wonderful writer.  As usual Seth is on the mark here – and this is a must read for everyone who’s starting their own thing – or wants to break out of the cookie cutter mold in their job.
  • The Little Big Things – Tom Peters.  This was a really good book.  A wonderfully entertaining and engaging book about how the “small stuff” matters.

Have a wonderful weekend – and do yourself a favor and harvest a little goodness.  Follow a few of these people and pick up one of these books.
